Recently there has been coverage in the media regarding workers in the farming, horticulture and viticulture sectors not being paid the Minimum Wage. This can happen, especially with farm workers, where they have a “Salary” for a set number of hour but end up working higher hours without being paid more. When this happens their effective hourly rate can drop below the minimum wage.
As mentioned in our last newsletter we are always looking to partner with third party providers who are able to pass pay period data such as Hours Worked through to the payroll. To this end we are pleased to announce we have just released a new import function for Fergus which is a system used by trades to track jobs etc.
To enable this option, go to Company Settings >> Import/Export and select the Fergus option from the drop down menu under “Import Data From” and then save. Once this option has been enabled you will be able to use the Import option in the Time & Income screen and this will bring through the hours worked by day for each employee. We suggest you speak to Fergus re exporting the data and to our support team if you need help with setting this up in Crystal.

Reducing Balance Deductions
In a recent newsletter we mentioned a new feature where you can add or top up Reducing Balance deductions. We have enhanced this feature so that as you add new “owed” values into this screen you will now see a Total Amount (Owing) value.
Costing Report Update
One of the valuable features of your Crystal Payroll is the fact that you retain a full detailed and date based history of all pays. One thing this allows you to do is to compare periods which can be particularly beneficial when it comes to costing. To make this easy for you we have added a new option in the Costing Analysis Report under the Accounting Analysis Reports.
